Okaya EV, Bluwheelz to deploy 5,000 electric two-wheelers: Here’s why

Electric two-wheeler manufacturer Okaya EV has inked a pact with logistics company Bluwheelz. As part of the partnership, the duo aims to deploy 1,000 electric two-wheelers in the last-mile logistics space by September 2023. This deployment will commence in Delhi, Jaipur, and Bhubaneswar, with the aim of scaling up to approximately 5,000 EVs within the next two years.
The latter offers Fleet as a Service, with a focus on electric vehicles to cater to the first-mile and last-mile logistics demands.

On the other hand, Okaya is planning to expand its footprint and after-sales services in over 40 cities in the next 12 months.
In August, Okaya sold 1,148 electric two wheelers, registering a 46.4 percent MoM growth as against the 784 units clocked in the preceding month. At present, the EV maker has seven electric scooters on offer while it is planning to unveil a new product soon. It is christened as ‘MotoFaast’.
The sales of electric two-wheelers saw a temporary downfall in June after the Ministry of Heavy Industries revised the FAME-II subsidies. With new subsidies in effect, almost all the leading electric two-wheeler manufacturers announced price hikes on their products.
However, following a temporary slowdown in the adoption rate due to the price hike, the segment appears to be returning to the growth trajectory. In May, Okaya EV managed to sell EVs in four digits. However, its best sales figures were recorded in May 2023 when it clocked 3,876 units.
