Shah Rukh Khan starrer ‘Jawan’ made a record-breaking start at the box office and the euphoria continued over the weekend. The movie earned Rs 75 crore on Thursday, Rs 53 crore on Friday, Rs 77 crore on Saturday and a whopping Rs 81 crore on Sunday.
Jawan currently stands at a total of Rs 287.06 crore across India in all languages, reports sacnilk. The Hindi version earned Rs 72 crore on Sunday, making it the highest single day collection. On Sunday, Jawan had an overall occupancy of 70 per cent in Hindi. Early estimate for Monday suggests that Jawan has already earned Rs 7 crore, making it the fastest film to enter the 300 crore club across India.
Directed by Atlee, ‘Jawan’ also stars Nayanthara, Vijay Sethupathi, Deepika Padukone in a cameo, Priyamani and Sanya Malhotra. Casting director Mukesh Chhabra revealed that the entire process of casting these faces took him more than a year. He told Etimessaid, “The entire process of casting was very interesting because when you do a big commercial film you have to keep a lot of things in mind. We had to mix the new faces with some little known faces so that the girl gang has power. That’s why we have cast Sanya Malhotra, Sanjeeta Mukherjee, Girija Oak Godbole, Lehar Khan and Alia Qureshi because their auditions were so good and their faces are different. Every girl needed to look different. That was the whole idea. That’s why the process of balancing the casting took one year. It is difficult to find new faces with so much going around but in spite of that our country has so much talent and you will find the talent who will be suitable for the part. But you need to have makers who support you and I am happy that I’m getting films where I can bring such talented actors.”
Jawan has been showered with love from fans, celebrities and critics. This movie marks SRK’s second big hit after Pathaan, which released in January this year.
