India making tremendous progress in practically all fields: Mauritius PM

Mauritius Prime Minister Pravind Kumar Jugnauth is visiting Delhi for the G20 Leaders’ Summit on September 9-10. Ahead of the event, he sang praises for India and lauded the country for its “tremendous growth” in economy, innovation, technology, as well as the successful landing of Chandrayaan-3 on the Moon.

Talking to India Today, Jugnauth lauded ‘Vasudhaiva Kutumbakam’, the G20’s Summit’s theme and said that India has an inclusive approach.

“I am very pleased to see the initiative that has been taken by India. It has tried to include everybody, especially when we know the progress India has been making,” Jugnauth said.

He also said that India has been making strides in terms of the economy, innovation, technology and more.

“All this shows that India is making tremendous progress in practically all fields. Shri Narendra Modi himself, the stature he has today, has the possibility to influence the policies that will guide us,” he said.

Talking about ‘One Earth, One Family, One Future”, the theme for the G20 Summit, Jugnauth said, “This is the approach that we should take to see to it that no one is left behind. I think it is important that we get together. I see India taking this leadership role and also paving the way for a more inclusive global network.”

On India’s proposal to include the African Union in the Group of 20 countries, Jugnauth said, “I appreciate the initiative of PM Modi. Africa has to be part of it in order to be able to voice out the views of not only Africa, but of those whose voices are not normally heard.”

Prime Minister Narendra Modi will hold bilateral talks with Pravind Jugnauth on Friday.

Pravind Jugnauth has been serving as the prime minister of Mauritius since January 2017. His great-grandfather migrated to Mauritius from the Indian state of Uttar Pradesh in the 1870s.
