Monu Manesar was booked and wanted by the Rajasthan Police after being the prime accused in the murder of two Muslim men in the state, and had been on the run since. He has also been accused of inciting the riots in Haryana’s Nuh, which eventually spread to Gurugram and Faridabad.

Who is Monu Manesar?

Monu Manesar alias Mohit Yadav hails from the Manesar district of Haryana, which is near Gurugram. He is a leader of Bajrang Dal and a cow vigilante, accused of several violent crimes.

According to media reports, Monu Manesar has been associated with the Bajrang Dal for the last 10-12 years and emerged to prominence as cracking down against cow smugglers in Rajasthan and Haryana.

It was alleged that Monu Manesar was in a procession by a Hindu group in Nuh which was met with backlash by the Muslim community, eventually leading to communal violence and dozens of deaths in multiple Haryana districts. However, he refuted claims of being associated with the procession.
