After the success of Chandrayaan 3 mission, a man from West Bengal’s Jhargram district gifted his wife a plot of land on the occasion of her birthday. The man, Sanjay Mahato who promised to bring the moon to his wife before marrying her bought one acre of land on the moon worth Rs 10,000.

Speaking to India Today, Mahato said he and his wife got married in last April after a long courtship period. He had promised to bring her the Moon but couldn’t fulfil it earlier. He found the occasion of her wife’s first birthday post marriage to be the perfect time to gift her a plot on the moon.

He bought the land through Luna Society International with the help of one of his friends. “I brought one acre of land on the Moon for her,” Mahato said, while holding on to a registration paper which had ‘Registered claim and deed for lunar property’ written on it. He further said that the whole process took about a year to complete.
