NSW COVID cases today: Hospitalisations hit record high as two more deaths are recorded


A record number of coronavirus patients are in hospital in New South Wales as cases in the state continue to soar.

As of Tuesday, 1344 people are being treated in hospital with the virus – surpassing the state’s previous record of 1266 which was set on September 21 when NSW was in the grips of a Delta outbreak.

Tuesday’s figure is an increase of 140 from Monday, when 1204 people with COVID were in hospital.

While intensive care numbers are also rising – with 105 currently in ICU – they are well short of the peak of 244 in September.

Another 23,131 cases of the virus were confirmed on Tuesday after more than 83,000 tests were processed.

Two more deaths were also recorded.
