The Congress has targeted the BJP’s Delhi unit for putting up hoardings in the city ahead of the G20 Summit, showing cutouts of Prime Minister Narendra Modi and other global readers based on their popularity rankings.
In a post on X (formerly Twitter), Congress leader Pawan Khera slammed Delhi BJP leader Vijay Goel over the hoarding that congratulated PM Modi for being the “world’s most popular global leader”.
Earlier this year, findings by a US-based global leader approval tracker called ‘Morning Consult’ revealed that PM Modi is the world’s most popular leader with an approval rating of 78 per cent of India’s adult population. The research firm conducted the survey on 22 leaders and PM Modi topped the list. Mexican President Andres Manuel Lopez Obrador took the second position and Swiss President Alain Berset occupied the third position.
US President Joe Biden and Canada’s Justin Trudeau received an approval rating of 40 per cent each and secured the seventh and ninth position respectively.
The hoarding put up by Vijay Goel listed the rankings of the leaders of Mexico, Switzerland, Australia, Italy, Brazil and the US. Of these, only Switzerland is not part of the G20 forum.
The hoarding was spotted by Pawan Khera ahead of the arrival of the G20 leaders in New Delhi for the Summit which will be held on September 9 and 10. World leaders including US President Joe Biden, Britain’s Prime Minister Rishi Sunak, and Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau will start arriving in Delhi from September 8.
