Guru Gobind Singh Refinery to set up mini science centres in 5 govt schools, first started

BATHINDA: HMEL Guru Gobind Singh Refinery promoted HPCL-Mittal Foundation is working on a plan to promote Science Technology, Engineering and Mathematics (STEM) education by offering mini science labs in 5 government schools. The foundation set up the first mini science centre at Government High School of village Tarkhanwala on Monday.
Inaugurating the mini science lab on Monday, District Education Officer Shiv Pal Goyal said that through this lab, students will be able to understand science practically and their interest in science will increase further as nearly 1200 students will benefit from it as students from nearby village schools will also be brought at the lab. A total of five such mini science labs will also be set up in government schools of villages Ramsara, Jajjal, Bangi Kalan and Gurthadi. It is a catalytic channel that is an interactive, engaging and fun way of learning techniques aimed at raising awareness, understanding information and strengthening children’s aptitude.
The foundation is also providing scholarships and tabs to those who score good marks in class X and scholarships and laptops in class XII. The meritorious students are sent to Delhi CSRL to prepare for admission in IITs and NITs.
