Blue Jays reinstate Swanson from 15-day IL, option Jackson to triple-A

The Toronto Blue Jays have reinstated reliever Erik Swanson from the 15-day injured list, the team announced Monday.

The right-hander will be available against the Texas Rangers Monday night.

Swanson, 30, has been sidelined since late August with thoracic spine inflammation. He made a rehab appearance at triple-A Buffalo over the weekend to prepare for his return to the roster.

Swanson was acquired in the offseason from the Seattle Mariners in a trade that sent outfielder Teoscar Hernandez to the West Coast. In 58 innings for the Blue Jays, Swanson has a 3.10 ERA and a win-loss record of 3-2 with four saves.

In a corresponding move, RHP Jay Jackson was optioned to triple-A Buffalo.

The Blue Jays hope to continue their playoff push as they host the Texas Rangers. Watch all the action on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW with coverage starting at 7 p.m. ET / 4 p.m. PT.
