Canadian PM Justin Trudeau is still stuck in India after the G20 Summit, just days after PM Modi criticized his governance over rising ‘anti-India’ activities in Canada.
Two days after the G20 Summit concluded in New Delhi, Canadian Prime Minister Justin Trudeau is still stuck in India after his jet hit a major snag, and some parts of the airplane needed to be replaced. Some parts of the plane are now waiting to be shipped to India.
Justin Trudeau’s plan faced technical issues on Monday, leaving the Canadian PM and the entire country’s delegation stranded in Delhi after the G20 Summit. Now, the PM will either wait for the ‘reserve jet’ to be sent from Canada, or the parts of the current jet to be replaced.
Sources quoted by Bloomberg said that due to the technical snag hitting Trudeau’s jet, it is expected that the entire Canadian delegation will depart from India on late Tuesday afternoon according to the current schedule.
Justin Trudeau and his delegation usually travel by the Airbus A310, which dates back to the 1980s and have been facing multiple technical difficulties due to their aged mechanism.
The airplane drama has only added to the woes between India and Canada amid the G20 Summit, where Prime Minister Narendra Modi held talks with his Canadian counterpart Justin Trudeau, where he criticized the Canadian government for allowing “anti-India” activities.
While speaking to Trudeau, PM Modi talked about allowing “anti-India activities of extremist elements in Canada”, referring to the rising Khalistani activities by Sikh radical groups. However, Trudeau has reiterated several times that they are cracking down on illegal activities.
The Khalistani activities in Canada have been raised multiple by the Indian government and the Ministry of External Affairs after several vandalisation attacks on Hindu temples and the Indian High Commission in the country.
