Bill Gates, Marie Kondo and World Bank Head Will Speak at Times Climate Event

Climate change is an issue that stretches across borders, touching every facet of our lives. Addressing it likewise requires shifts in almost every industry and institution. On Sept. 21, The New York Times will bring together newsmakers, including innovators, activists, scientists and policymakers, for an all-day event examining the actions needed to confront climate change.

The livestream is available for Times subscribers.

Sessions will include:

  • Ajay Banga, president of the World Bank Group

  • Al Gore, former vice president of the United States

  • Bill Gates, founder of Breakthrough Energy and co-chair of the Bill & Melinda Gates Foundation

  • Ebony Twilley Martin, executive director of Greenpeace USA

  • Eleni Myrivili, global chief heat officer to U.N. Habitat and the Arsht-Rock Resilience Center

  • Marie Kondo, tidying expert and founder of KonMari Media

  • Michael Bloomberg, founder of Bloomberg L.P. and Bloomberg Philanthropies

  • Robin Wall Kimmerer, scientist and author

Times journalists, including the managing correspondent for the Climate Forward newsletter, David Gelles, and domestic correspondent, Somini Sengupta, and national food correspondent, Kim Severson, will drive the conversation.

Signing up for the livestream will also give you an opportunity to connect with other online attendees on the messaging platform Slack. Each day will feature a different topic and guests, along with prompts from Times editorial staff.
