Switch Mobility: Switch Mobility unveils IeV series all-electric LCVs: 120 km range and connectivity

Switch Mobility, a subsidiary of Ashok Leyland commercial vehicles today unveiled the IeV series of electric light commercial vehicles. The company has unveiled the the IeV3 and IeV4 light commercial vehicles based on this new platform and the company also mentioned that it will develop multiple electric commercial vehicles in the next five years. The company also mentioned that it has invested Rs 100 crores towards the development of the new IeV series.

The vehicles was unveiled by Nitin Gadkari, Minister of Road Transport and Highways of India. Talking about the IeV3 and IeV4, in terms of design it looks nearly identical to the ICE Ashok Leyland Dost and Bada Dost. The switch has made minor cosmetic changes to the interior and exterior to differentiate it from the ICE Dost. The IeV3 and IeV4 are built on body-on-frame construction combined with a 330V high-voltage EV Architecture. The body can be extended up to 9.7 feet and is capable of holding up to 340 cubic feet of containers.

Moving inside, the eLCVs get a dual dual-tone dashboard with a driver + two seating layout. Some of the features include electric power steering, hill hold assist, sliding and reclining driver seat, two USB ports for mobile charging, a lockable glove box, reverse parking sensors and a touchscreen infotainment system. The eLCVs also get Switch iON connect technology which features vehicle tracking, real-time information, geo-fencing, trio history and other various information.

Talking about the powertrain and battery, the IeV3 gets a 25.6 kWh LFP battery pack paired with an electric motor which puts out leak power of 40 kW and 190 Nm of torque. Switch claims it can travel up to 120 Km on one charge and has a payload capacity of up to 1200 kilograms. The battery can be charged in 6 hours using a 3.3 kW AC charger while DC charging takes just 60 minutes with a 30 kW charger.

The leV4 gets a bigger 32.2 kWh LFP battery pack paired with an electric motor which puts out peak power of 60 kW and 230 Nm of torque. Switch claims it can travel up to 120 Km on one charge and has a payload capacity of up to 1700 kilograms. The battery can be charged in 8 hours using a 3.3 kW AC charger while DC charging takes just 75 minutes with a 30 kW charger.
Switch is offering 3 3-year or 1.5 lakh Km warranty on the vehicle. For battery, the company is offering 5 years or 1.5 lakh kms. The price of the vehicles will be announced in the coming months and the deliveries are set to begin from January 2024.
