Joe Jonas and Sophie Turner are addressing headlines about their breakup.
One day after the Jonas Brothers singer filed for divorce from the Game of Thrones alum, the pair released a joint statement on their decision.
“After four wonderful years of marriage we have mutually decided to amicably end our marriage,” they shared in a message, posted to their respective Instagram accounts Sept. 6. “There are many speculative narratives as to why but, truly this is a united decision and we sincerely hope that everyone can respect our wishes for privacy for us and our children.”
Joe and Sophie—who share daughters Willa, 3, and a 14-month-old baby girl listed in the court docs as “D.J.“—tied the knot back in 2019, when a prenuptial agreement was put in place, according to Joe’s court filing obtained by E! News.
Moving forward, the “Waffle House” singer wants to work on co-parenting with the actress.
“A parenting plan should be established,” he said in the filing, “which addresses all parenting issues and contains a timesharing schedule providing for frequent and continuing contact with both parties.”
Joe noted that the little girls have been “residing with their father” in Miami and more U.S. cities amid his tour, adding, “It is in the best interests of the minor children that the parties have shared parental responsibility.”
